Our lives rarely go the way we want them to. We encounter frustrations and losses. We make mistakes and bump up against our limitations; we fall short of our ideals. This is the human condition. Cultivating self-compassion means learning to embrace our humanness.
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) involves showing kindness toward ourselves, especially when we feel frustrated, hurt, inadequate, or overwhelmed. MSC allows us to acknowledge our difficult thoughts and feelings with a spirit of curiosity rather than criticism.
In our school you will discover the science and physiology behind self-compassion and learn the skills to practice self-compassion in your daily life.
"I've done a lot of self help type things and this was the first time I felt like my relationship to myself genuinely shifted."

Change Starts with Acceptance
It is impossible to succeed if there's no room for failure. But when our inner critic is too loud, we are paralyzed by indecisiveness and inaction. Growth comes from a willingness to accept the imperfect, messy, and vulnerable. If we can’t allow ourselves to fail, we can never grow and we miss out on life.
Courses are Research Based
A growing body of research indicates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing, an ability to cope with life challenges, a healthier lifestyle, more satisfying personal relationships, and lower levels of anxiety and depression.
Self-Compassion Helps You:
- lower stress
- handle difficult emotions with greater ease
- feel more connected in relationships
- develop better boundaries
- stop being so hard on yourself
- motivate yourself with kindness not criticism
- manage caregiver fatigue
Hi, I’m Diane.
I am the founder and director of the Atlanta Center for Self Compassion. I have been teaching mindfulness and emotion regulation for over 15 years in individual and group therapy, as well as leading workshops for professionals and corporations about stress-reduction, mindfulness, self-compassion, and embodiment.
I offer these online courses because I believe so strongly in the profound transformative power of Mindful Self-Compassion practices and I want them to accessible to everyone.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. I love Broadway musicals, classic SNL, catching up with girlfriends, and slightly bawdy game nights. I also find joy in the perfect sarcastic gif sent at the right moment.

We also offer individual coaching for those who want to go deeping with their self-compassion practice.
